Funny or Disturbing: Things that Go Bump in the Night

Joel noticed someone shinning a flashlight over our fence into our courtyard area.  He went out to investigate, the neighbor heard something about 10 minutes ago and thought someone was breaking into her house (we think she called the police or someone that got here in 10 minutes).  About 10 minutes ago Molly, the giant schnauzer, ran into the closed patio door at full speed.  She seems to not see the glass door or the screen door.  She ran into the screen door and knocked it off the track.  Fortunately, she hasn't broken the door yet.  Anyways, it kind of disturbs me a bit that the first thing the neighbor thought of was someone breaking in.  Does this happen often?  According to everyone we've talked with and the stuff we've read, we live in a good neighborhood.  Maybe I will have to get the pepper spray as suggested by cousin Thomas and Amber.  Also, any suggestions on marking a screen door and patio door so the dog doesn't run into it anymore would be appreciated!  I also think it is funny that the neighbor thought OUR 60 pound dog running into OUR glass patio door was someone breaking into THEIR house. Ahhh, the Rech adventures of living in California!

Do you think dogs see reflective tape? If so, maybe you could use that to keep her from running in to the screen.

I'm not sure. It is definitely something to try. The last couple days any time I open the glass door, but leave the screen shut I have her come and touch it with her nose, in hopes that she remembers it is still shut.
