50 States Challenge
When Joel and I got married in 2001, we decided to visit and spend the night in all 50 states. We both enjoyed traveling and thought it would be a fun lifelong goal. There are some rules...
- We must visit the state together. Joel and I have been to many states individually, but the rule is that we must travel together.
- Our visits began on June 30, 2001; any traveling done before that date does not count.
- We must spend the night in each state, we don't have to stay at a motel or even a campground, but we must sleep there. (In Nebraska, South Dakota, Indiana and most recently Colorado, we slept in the car at a wayside.)
So, far Joel and I have visited 25 states together. Our first night as a married couple we spent in Wisconsin, but quickly (the next night) started our quest with our second state being Hawaii. The other 23 states have come over the last nearly ten years on a variety of adventures. For more stories and photos from our adventures remember to visit our blog.
